Hi

gf (will never be spd), is complaining about foot slip on flat, single cage pedals. She uses Shimano boots etc (ie with cleat space on sole etc).

Anyway there appear to be:
- flats with pins
- cage pedals
- double cage pedals
- flat resin pedals with a 'solidish' top

any ideas about what would grip best ?

(alternatively how could I bodge a piece of sole onto the spd shoes ?)

Thanks

pins I'd have thought.

Anything with pins - although it will depend on the shape of the sole.. I use Shimano MT90 boots (with cleats still fitted) on my Fatbikes using Sanderson Pro-Mag pedals and that's plenty grippy enough. The Shimano MW80s on the same pedal slip all over the place.

Why is she using SPD shoes if she wants to ride flats?

as she's tiny (so limited choice - esp on a budget), and there is a much wider range in spd compatible ones (well in what I could find esp winter styles)

She should try a non-cycling alternative - like Approach Shoes. The likes of Trespass sell loads.

As above, flats and pins...I've used these with everything from speshy tahoes to cheapy hike shoes, flip flops (scars to prove this is a fail) to Duffs and etnies...can't beat a good skate shoe and agree on wellgo for vfm....
