I'd go second hand or the Decathlon bikes.
That 'Dale has a nice frame but the stuff hung off it is nasty.
Can't yo just sell him your old Raleigh until he has enough for something a bit nicer? That'll help hide your little secret from the boss too.
a bike thats only new to him is bound to be better value.
mate has a cannondale caad8, its really nice.
That caad8 will be fine. Wheels are awful, but the groupset is better than you might think.
Used, id still go for a caad8, giant tcr or boardman
