As title really.
My current (quite naff) kit has had it and is see through in places, so I thought I'd treat myself this Autumn/Winter...
Price has to be reasonable as I'm not awash with funds...

Quite like the torm jerseys
Any suggestions on similar jerseys and bib longs with chamois pads...

For winter, bib shorts with non-chamois bib longs are a good versatile combination for layering. I have thin and thick longs that I just combine with thin or thick bib shorts depending on how cold it is.

Some decent arm and leg warmers are useful too for milder days. I have a few sets in different thicknesses depending on the weather. I like my Craft 3D ones.

Sportful NoRain bibs and warmers are good. Windproof, warm, and not too pricey.

Jerseys. Gabba like ones are good for Autumn.

The fit seems more important with roadie clothing and different manufacturers mean different things by "large" etc
I'd be tempted to have a poke around local bike shops, try on stuff and with luck there'll still be some deals about in end of season sales.
It's definitely investing in decent longs for comfort - probably of different grade for Winter than Autumn. I like Gore longs but just use an old pair tracksters for warmer days

I have just got a Howies Cadence jersey and very nice it is too. Also thinking about getting some Chapeau bib longs for winter.

Yes, good point on fit. If you're buying mail order make sure returns are easy!

I like the DHB roubaix bib 3/4s; they've been very durable and comfortable. When it comes to longs I have some non-bib roubaix ones; if you wear them with bib 3/4s then there's no worries about a gap on your lower back, and they can be put on and taken off mid-ride, which is useful for big days/nights out. (No, not *that* sort of night out.)

I couldn't get on with the Gabba myself: not enough wind/waterproofing for really foul weather and not enough ventilation for when it's milder. Neither fish nor fowl; if it's dry I prefer a ventilated back, if it's cold I get on better with the Gore Xenon soft shell, and if it's truly hammering down then it's Gore Tex time.

Winter boots rock; a skull cap is an essential for me; Gore make some pretty effective gloves (though my Northwave lobsters are very much the kick-ass when it's freezing); Pearl Izumi make some nice stretchy soft-fabric windproofs for chilly mornings and autumn days; and I find a mesh base layer traps a noticeable amount of additional warmth underneath whatever it's underneath.

To qualify all that: I tend to go for distance rather than speed. If you put out more heat for less time then your criteria are probably a little different.

Worth finding brands that fit you, though. There are plenty that I don't even bother looking at. IME: French stuff tends to be short, Italian stuff tends to be thin, American stuff requires you to have a massive arse and pencil-thin forearms, and UK stuff is as predictable as pulling raffle tickets out of a tombola. YMMV 😉

Check out the DeFeet long finger gloves and Belgian booties. Woolie Boolie socks FTW.

Ah I'd forgotten about the Sportful R&D Wind jersey...

http://www.sportful.com/Root/Cycling/Jerseys/Sportful-R%26D-LS-Wind-Jersey/p/110127215A

It's not cheap, but wore this a lot in Autumn and Spring. It's a fairly light weight jersey and is windproof and lined with some magic Polartec fabric. Really good for shorter training rides when you need to be kept warm when not pushing hard, but not overheat when you do.

Lovely day today though, was out in just a thin summer short sleeved jersey 🙂

My spring/autumn wardrobe is below. Flexibility is the key in these sessions so removable warmers and gillets work well.
Regular, short sleeved shirt, ideally with longer arms to work with warmers - variety of makes
Roubaix Jersey, long sleeved - I really like my Lusso one
Winter bib shorts (an odd concept but one that I like a lot) - mine are Planet-X
Normal bibs - Decathlon
3/4 Roubaix bibs - DHB
Arm warmers of a variety of thickness, Roubaix and merino as a start point - Planet-X for merino
Knee warmers - On-One merino ones are lovely
Sleeveless, windproof gillet - whatever fits or suits
Thin waterproof jacket - see above
Wool socks, thin and thick - Planet-X, cheap and good
Full finger gloves, Roubaix and thermal - Planet-X and Decathlon
Cap - variety
Toe covers - Castelli
Overshoes - PX again
Sun glasses with changeable lenses - Oakley racing jackets
Variety of base layers - Decathlon, UnderArmour and Nike

For winter I add:
Thermal bib longs - Decathlon
Thermal jacket - Decathlon, Lusso and Aldi
Thicker overshoes - PX
Thick gloves - Aldi
Thermal cap - PX

That'll do I reckon! Take your pick from that lot!

Not much else to say apart from, Winter hat, one of those you can fold up/down depending how chilly yer ears are! Prendas one is nice but make sure you don't put it in the tumble drier 🙁

[hijack]

Anyone tried the Sportful Fiandre No-Rain Jacket? Looks decent and seems to get good user reviews, kinda assuming the finish will be similar to the Catelli Fawesome jacket?

Also looking at the Sportful Fiandre Extreme NeoShell Jacket which seems a bit Moar extreme but it's another good chunk of £££.

Really after a zone2 jacket this year! I've got a decent winter jersey which works well with a nice Castelli winter base but it's useless when it rains as I'm instantly cold (soft skinny lad!!)!

That NeoShell does look good. Fairly big wedge of cash though!

I picked up the Sportful Survival jacket last winter for when I have to go out when it's properly wet. Only got to use it a couple of times but it worked well for me with appropriate layering. Fine for z2 work when I don't get that sweaty. A really nice race cut to it too.

Cheers, I'd looked at that as well but didn't like the look of the front bit and discounted it 😳

I wish they'd put temp ranges on stuff like Castelli does! Far enough, you've got to actually knock 10 degrees C of the range they advise or you'll be sweating like a dog but at least it gives you an idea how different bits of clothing stack up against each other in the manufacturers range.

Yes, was my goto outer last winter. Warm, quite waterproof and breathes well. Italian sized tho....

Good at around 3 degrees with a Craft base layer. Any colder and I don't road ride....
