Mini 750 has grown out of her bike
she is 5'2 so I think a small would fit, doesn't seem to be any second hand near me for sale so does anyone have any recommendations
I would be wanting to spend £300-400

Funnily enough I was thinking of starting a thread saying "I want a pink/purple bike daddy" fairly soon for my 7 year old.

But, I also have a 155cm ish child and finding him something was tricky last year. Over your budget but in the end I found a small Scott 27.5" and he's happy enough on that.

I'm afraid it's just a matter of keeping an eye out on eBay/here/facebook until something comes up. At your budget there might be some nice old 26ers kicking about?

Got a trek ex junior for sale in Manchester, if she wants to try that...

Was hoping to get a tad more than £400 for it but open to offers.

I bought a second hand Trek Marlin for my daughter and have upgraded most of it with bits I already had, but the frame is a nice base for upgrades. Most of it was fine tbf, but the stock forks area awful. I put some 26" ones on first as shes running 26" wheels at the moment, but have since swapped them for some Manitou 27.5 forks with the intention of putting bigger wheels in as she grows. They have a straight steer but you can fit a tapered steerer in if you fit an external bottom headset cup. XS so your daughter would need a bigger one but they're nice bikes.

Simlarly my 14yr old son has a Sonder Transmitter, you won't get one foe you price range but again the frame is great if you have spares.

I have a size small Brand-X HT-01 frame in the classifieds for sale if that's any good.

This afternoon I'm picking up a second hand Boardman MHT 8.6 for my 5'2 daughter - 2 years old, immaculate, £300 and ripe for upgrades.

and ripe for upgrades.

Seen people posting this in a few places, and wondered what it means.

Is it basically a polite way of saying " piece of shit" or is there more to it, like it's got an amazing carbon frame, and the rest is shit?

Just seems like an odd thing to say. This bike is great because you can ( will have to ) bin loads of the bits off it and replace them.

🤑

Suppose it's just that it's a good base to start from. Works off the peg, with some decent bits, but upgrading other bits will make it a good bike. Second hand that could mean that some bits are still in good working order i.e. forks, but maybe the gears and brakes could do with changing.

This

Frame, gears and brakes are sound. Lighter forks and wheels as and when some turn up on ebay, tyres, seat post and bars can easily lose a couple of pounds for not much money.
