It's open season for riding the big stuff again, however now I don't live in Scotland I don't know so much about which big mountains to go after what with all this bollocks about footpaths and access laws.

What should I put on my to do list for the year? As a bit of inspiration, here's the last couple of year's big mountains I've had a pop at-

We like them technical, high and, sadly, they now have to be easy to get to from Yorkshire in a day.

Ticked off in these areas before are-

Nan Bield
Snowdon
Helvellyn
Skiddaw
Fairfield

Anyone got any suggestions? I've got Cadair Idris on the list but fancy some real world views on some of the others.

Cheers.

Cadair Idris is not a patch on Snowdon. The top quarter is rocky and has technical bits, but it's mostly fast singletrack.

Fun still, but maybe not what you are after.

Luke, try rosset ghyll from wasdale to the langdale valley.

also a nice route out of buttermere, up the red screes to red pike, over high stile, high crag and seat, down into scarth gap, the follow the cheeky stuff over haystacks to the bw below fleetwith pike, then bw down warnscale bottom down to buttermere.

have fun , you lucky sod....... ๐Ÿ˜€

It doesn't have to be technical, just good fun will do very nicely too.

Have you been up in the Howgills at all? There's a great super fast descent into Sedbergh. Not technical but it's a great place to be on a bike.

Fairfield was OK- you can basically do the same descent down Grisedale as Helvellyn or head west on a fairly smooth but fast grassy track. It wasn't bad, but not the best.

Munrobiker, I live North Wales, can show you some nice stuff around the Clywds if you want.... ๐Ÿ™‚
As for the lakes, I have ridden high street from Hartsop, free parking and a nice pub at the end. Try Keswick mtb they do good route maps around the area, the borrow dale bash is a nice route to try..

Ullock Pike for the win.

Round of Cat Bells on the horseshoe.

Whiteless Pike.

Boredale Hause from High Street

Fairfield Horseshoe - carry up and lovely descent down riding anti clockwise.

Basically, the best stuff is all cheeky. ๐Ÿ˜€
