don't think my little Lezyne one will be up to the job for 27.5 x 2.8s on the new bike in a few weeks - what do you recommend ?

I've got a little Lezyne of some sort. Remember, it's not like you'll be wanting high pressure.

Edit: It's a Lezyne Alloy Drive Mini Pump.

I've got the Lezyne micro floor drive HV. Bought it when I got my current bike with 27.5 X 3.0 tyres. It's a good pump but quite big.

Specialized one of some form here for plus tyres -- comes so that the hose extends out a bit, swaps between Presta and Schraeder - been happy with mine. Update - Air Tool Big Bore I think is the one.

Topeak Turbo Morph...

Same for last 8 or 9 years. Road, gravel, mountain, plus and fat...

Even survived full washing cycle together with backpack xD

Only thing I've done so far is apply some grease/thick oil through the side port to silence it after washing machine adventure.

My only issue is with foldable "leg". Already replaced 3, always snapped in the same place. A bit of a rubbish feat.

Apart of that no issues whatsoever...
Cheers!
I.

I've got the lezyne mini floor pump thing too.

Like most lezyne stuff it looks the dogs chrome plated danglies.

But it's absolutely awful. The presta/schrader adapter screws into the end of the hose, and is retained on the foot of the pump to keep it all tidy when not in, use, which is nigh on impossible as the whole thing doesn't turn very well in the end of the hose so you can't screw it in.

The handle is small and has sharp metal edges where the hose sits when stowed. Great for hurting your palms as you pump.

Just get the topeak mountain morph if you want something track-pump-esque, or blackburn mammoth if you want something lighter and handheld.

There is absolutely no reason to get that hateful lezyne POS unless you like chrome bling and never have to use it.

Topeak Mountain Morph or Mountain DA. As above, Lezyne are a veritable PITA.

Remember that there are "High Volume, Low pressure" and "High Pressure, Low Volume" pumps. For plus and fat tyres, it's the former you want.

I use a topeak road/mini morph. More strokes but easier going, and has the advantage of being small enough to fit in my bum bag.
Used happily on all tyre volumes, including 2.8s and 23c

Topeak Mountain Morph here for my Fat Bike with 4.8 so should be a doddle on 2.8.

The original mini pump I had took a party of 3 taking turn to inflate.....

I didn’t know they sold them as spares, cheers!

Odd. No problems attaching it on mine. The head spins freely and screws into the retaining thread easily. I was able to reseat a tubeless tyres with it today as well - seems good kit to me

It just stopped spinning after a few months.

And that handle......

It's kinda hard to efff up a pump, and the pump bits fine. But the ergonomics we just pathetic.

Same with their multitools, ive got one of those too. Seduced by its bling. And probably blisters on my hands from the sharp edges of the CNC side plates.

And a backpack that had a cool organiser section for tools, pump, tubes etc, that put all the heavy stuff as far away from you as possible making it wobble.

And a mini pump that wasn't long enough to hold without trapping a fold of skin every stroke.

I swear their designer is a CAD monkey who's never used one of their own products.
