May daughter is on a frog 52 but its getting a bit small for her. Thinking of getting her a proper kids mtb. any recommendations. Shes 7.5 years old and reasonable tall for her age.
what/where does she ride/(or you expect in the next bike) planning to ride ?
Assuming by tall 7.5 yr old she'll be on a 24 of some sort .for us the move to 24 wheels was when we started doing more specialist stuff but he started with a light HT aged 6 .. but by 7 we had ended up with 2 bikes and given up trying to find that "one bike for everything".
We got our 7 year old lad (now 8) a Cannondale Cujo 24+ bike. Absolutely fantastic, no heavy cheap suspension that barely works, just plus sized tyres that absorb some of the trail chatter. He loves it & combined with a TowWhee for the worst of the local hills he's done 15/16 miles with me no problems, both singletrack and fire road.
His is a lime green with orange detailing but I see this years are blue https://www.sunsetmtb.co.uk/shop/index.php?product_id=9094&msclkid=939e2df20ba51d85116d73b761f67667
Hoy Bonaly 24. Comes with rigid/suspension, disks or vees. Pays your money and take your pick.
How tall is quite tall ?
My lad is too big for his Spesh Hardrock.
26” wheel but 12” frame.
My lad ran it with 24” wheels quite happily, then 26” once he’d grown.
Still got his 24” Hotrock if your after a cheapie.
If your buying new the 24” Carerra is a fab little bike.
My son is a bit older at 10, but has had a Vitus 24 since he was 9. It’s really good for the price and he seems very stable on it.

Early ride Hellion 24, we have the 20 for our six year old daughter and it’s a thing of beauty and ability 🙂 tubeless ready etc etc
we have a Genesis Core (rigid) and a Carrera blast (with RS Rebas) on, both 24" wheeled. Don't think that Genesis make the Core any more, but if you find one second hand, they are a great bike. The Carrera was re-sprayed and built up with nice bits, but has now been swapped back for standard as she is moving onto something bigger and most of the bits have gone on the new build. (#stealth adv - both are coming up for sale soon#)
Checkout the Hope Academy. We got ours (20") for my son (6) around Christmas. It's ace! My firend also has the 24" Front Suspension version which is great! They have availability at the mo.
We just got our 8 year old daughter one of these https://www.tritoncycles.co.uk/kids-bikes-c2/pedal-bikes-c216/cujo-24-kids-bike-2020-p23171 for the same sort of reasons that dahedd mentions - no compromises made to get a suspension fork on it, reasonably light weight and a decent spread of gears. Was a bit worried that it was going to be too big stepping up from an Isla 20", but even though she's of fairly average height, there's a bit of seatpost showing.
Towhee is also ace!

or the slightly bigger frame/wheels https://www.halfords.com/bikes/kids-bikes/voodoo-nzumbi-mountain-bike---26in-wheel-251436.html ?
I'm finding the hardest part is finding a bike with a colour her majesty approves of. Pale blue or purple only...
Nukeproof Cub Scout. SEOT.

+1 for the hoy bonaly, got ours on ebay, both mint condition, great bikes
The Cujo is a great little bike as mentioned above, my daughter had the 20” It really inspired her confidence. She recently turned 8 and had grown out of it and although the 24” seemed like the logical progression the colour was not within spec. She now has an Orbea MX24 (team disc) it’s a wonderful bike equally as well made as the Cujo but with a slightly higher spec- hydro brakes, Deore GS 10speed shadow+.
It was a little long in the reach but I’ve got into the habit of fitting backswept bars on her bikes, she likes the more relaxed riding position. She’s got a trimmed down On-One Geoff bar on this one.

I've got a Pinnacle Kauri I need to sell - it's a 26er the size of a 24. It's also pale blue.
4 days but no return or what they plan to ride?
thanks for all the responses (I don't look on here every day Stevextc!!). the Cujo looks great and good value.
it will be an all rounder with some light mtb duties in places like ashton court, Bristol....with a view to her building confidence and hopefully getting a bit more adventurous in years to come.

Depends if you want to pay for suspension, though... at that age they may be better off with a rigid bike with decent high volume tyres (which take the edge off the bumps) as these should be lighter/cheaper.
