In my local area, it's the ubiqutous Cube. Probably down the the fact the most successful bike shop in Ayrshire knocks them out by the ton, and they seem quite good value.

I really couldn't say. Years ago in Bristol it was quite possibly Konas but.nowadays there's a real mix.

the 3 guys I regularly ride with all have orange 5s and we see plenty more on the local trails

I have 3 oo frames* so I guess that evens it up a bit ๐Ÿ™‚ don't see many out on the trails tho.

*although only 2 actually built up and 1 of those is a road bike
