Got DT Swiss EX5.1 rims and I can't begin to express how 'kin hard it is to seat / remove a tyre. Fixed puncture then got a pinch flat crowbarring the tyre back on (with the use of a bit of chain lube to ease the situation). I run Specialized Purgatory but I have the same problem with Panaracer Rampage as well - so nowt to do with brand of rubber. Is it just me??
Nope.
I've got a set of Maxxis High rollers on those get rims.
They're a right royal pain in the arse to fit/remove.
Those tyres on bog standard commencal rims were fine.
Weak wrists.
I have treaverse ELs which I believe are dt swiss copies. Nearly died getting tyres on. Shop said the same, they weren't able to set them up tubeless..
I have no trouble with my EX5.1d rims, tubeless or tubed with conti, maxxis or bontrager tyres. They are snug but nothing a tyre lever can't sort out.
EX5.1's are a nightmare, and this is from someone who is used to fitting UST tyres to UST rims with just my fingers, no tyre levers!
FWIW, the Traverse EL rims are much more like a Stans rim, I've got a set, can fit tubeless tyres to them pretty easily to be fair, more snug than a UST rim but nothing like a DT EX5.1

Nah. Genuine DT hub internals and spokes, with a Stans copy rim.
(Incidentally I've got 2 sets of ELs and I've found neither is hard to get tyres on or off, or to set up tubeless.)
I was told dt Swiss style rims but am happy to accept the collective wisdom on here!
Either way im happy with them..
