I'm relatively new to hydraulic disc brakes and have a pair of Shimano LX M585s. I'm unsure what I'm looking for in terms of compatability when it comes to hose. Presumably the width of bore in the hose effects fluid movement and I assume it's not standardsed (CRC lists Shimano hose that only compatible with Deore M525 units for example). I can't find any specifically for use with M585 units and I guess that 3rd party hose is even more confusing. There's some nice looking coloured Goodridge hose but I've no idea whether I could use it, it doesn't even mention if it's for mineral oil (like my M585s) or DOT.
What hose could I use with Shimano M585 hydraulic brakes?
This shop is selling shimano sm-bh59 hose. Apparently it can be used for Deore M525 & Deore LX M585 XT M770!
Google shimano sm-bh59
Thanks, that's handy. Can I only use Shimano hose or are there any 3rd party options available (I quite like some of the coloured options available)?
Just Shimano then?
No you can use the goodridge hose, but you'll need the fittings as well. If you look at the bottom of the page of the link you added you will see the Goodridge kit 107 for your brakes
