What headset should I get for Scandal 29er with Tapered Headtube.
On-one have a smoothy mixer but its £40. Seems to much to me.
I want to run 1 1/8" fork originally might get tapered latter.

I have emailed on-one along with the two sellers but they are being a bit useless.
Ie one says do know frame spec other sames dont know headset spec.
I have now tried CC them all together.
Am currently going through the same mine field.
The problem lies with the headtube not being to any common standard, certanly not one shown [url= http://www.hopetech.com/webtop/modules/_repository/documents/HOPEHEADSETS2011Web.pdf ]here[/url].
Anyway the headtube takes a 44mm upper shell an a 49.6 lower shell.
I'm supprised at how much people are charging for these, the on one smoothie is looking the cheepest especially when running a 1 1/8 fork

getting totally confused for it was internal for some reason.
the superstar one does look slightly better value as it includes both the crown races.
On-one are charging £20 for the tapered crown race.
Think that might be the one to get still £40 ! Dont think I've ever spent more than £20 on a headset and never had the bearings go either.
also the on one is 50 grams lighter, seems a bit silly to get such a light frame as the scandal then put a 200g headset in.
oh no its an external upper as well isnt it ? would that superstar one fit ?

The upper headset looks internal or semi integrated.
But looking at my frame it looks like it should be a standard external.
oh thats cos the upper is smaller than the 1.5" lower, and is placed inside it ?
I now have superstar one and it fits.
Come with both crown races which makes it somewhat better value than on-one. Ie £40 + £20 for other crown race.
So confirmed as the standard for the Scandal.
