Hi there, which front mech is compatible with the above left hand front mech shifter. its from an 8sp XT groupset. so i assume any Shimano fr mech from an 8 spd groupset would work with it. but would fr mechs from 7sp/9sp groupsets work?

They're all compatible with the shifters, you need to choose which type suits your frame and chainset ie top swing/bottom swing, top or down pull, and 7,8, or 9 speed(they will work, but have different cage widths for different chains), and, now, whether you have a double and bash or a triple ring set up.
