As the title really, I don't really want to pay 'A Million Dollars' for one, but I would like one that uses the ferrule as a stop rather than a cable clamp. Cheers

Why not just chop the ferrule/lump off the end of the cable so you can use a “normal” leaver?
if you do that my go to is the ztto leaver that you can pick up for a lot less than the wolf tooth that “inspired” it.

When I did use a "ferrule" end lever I liked the original Crank Brothers lever - you could mount it pretty much anywhere and press/tug the lever in any direction to activate. Unsure if that is still around.
