Thought I'd better check on my wheel bearings after a lot of wet, muddy riding / hosing the bike down.
They looked like this:
Is the grease white because water has got in and emulsified it, or is it supposed to be this colour?
Nothing has gone rusty, and the other bearing was exactly the same.

Yeah, I know - it was against my better judgement ;).
They've been cleaned & re-packed with waterproof grease, anyway.

What you ought to have done is ask the shop you bought it from and when they can't answer immediately give the bikea 1* review.

Theres lots of makes of white grease around these days.
