I say 'DH' as I'm a bit porky/top heavy.

What would you recommend? Im not bothered about 'weight' as such. Just saving my hands/joints for later life.

Easton do a carbon DH bar in 25.4. Danny Mac swears by them and he's never broken a set. Strong praise for someone who is the ultimate basher. Much stronger and longer lasting than alu DH bars.

seen a good number of runs at dh races i have attended ended by snapped carbon bars.

seen some bent alu ones. but never snapped. bent means you can get back on and ride down, carbon doesnt - go figure.

also saw a lad pull half his carbon bar off as he set off at dunkeld. just snapped it off as he pulled away. now that could have been nasty.

not for me!

I've been using Azonic CF1's for 3 years now with no issues, handles Cwmcarn DH & free ride section quite well for how I ride (I weigh around 210 Fully kitted up).

DH racing is not your average riders DH / trail Centre outing and as such any "DH" rated carbon bar should be fine.

dh/trail centre is a new one on me!

but im with you yes.

dont know this hora fella, but he seems to have more issue with kit than anyone else on this forum, if i was in that situation id stick to good old metals.

I'd trust carbon, but then I spent 6 months purpoously tring to destroy carbon components so no longer have to believe the rumours and hearsay.

got a photo somewhere of a fella holding one half of a bar in his hand and his bike with the other half on in his other hand.

rumours and hearsay indeed...

On the snapping thing. I agree- tighten your stem too much etc and too many hard falls without replacing.

How many times on a mountain bike do you have a hard fall? Once this year onto concrete. I'd check a carbon bar and possibly replace if I had a few of these.

The Azonic looks spot on as it has the alu-inserts which stop the over-tightening problem 🙂

Thanks guys. My ageing bones thank you.

yes sir and it is no doubt the world of dh too. leave bars on for circa 3 years, once a year maybe check they are tight by wanging them a touch tighter with an allen key. then throw on uplift trailer.
