Did a few enduros this year as before and I'm already starting to think about what we'd like to do next year. What domestic MTB XC/enduro events would you recommend/did you enjoy and why?

Cheers,

Jez

Well Jez, I don't know which to do but whatever you do, don't do the, Welsh ride Thing at the end of May. It's tedious, mile after mile over the mountains and hills of mid Wales, there's no shops, no bike wash, no cafe, there isn't even any people ... certainly one to steer clear of 😉

Hit the north-cold and muddy.
3 peaks cx-warm and painful (tho thats anything on a cx bike in general).
Dyfi enduro-steep and bumpy.
Kielder 100-long...really long.
Any No Fuss event-scottish and stuff.

SSUK if you are that way inclined.

Can agree with Stuarts assessment of WRT. Despite about 50 riders on the last day I had ridden for a couple of hours without seeing anybody. Suddenly, I went round a corner and thought I could actually see somebody. So busy looking in surprise I fell off and a couple of young ladies came to my aid.... (Also got to spend a quiet night with ianb in a bothy)

Kielder 100 - for the atmosphere, adventure and challenge
CRC Selkirk (ex Merida) Marathon because it's 50 miles worth of riding that I'd do even if it wasn't an event.

Midlands XC was a great race series, Hanchurch course great wooded singletrack.

Nutcracker XC also very good for regional racing.

🙂

Tour de Ben Nevis - Biblically wet and during the brief dry spells, the midges were on a scale I have never encountered, but that didn't detract from the superb course and scenery.

SSEC2010 was good all round (weather, event, people, course)

just did a local CX race the other weekend (London Se CX League) - you can't beat an event you can ride to from home, race*, and ride back home again

the random trip to the Lakes with people i don't really know was fab

*ish

may try SSEC2011 err next year

Be honest now - the ride was good mind

Any SS event is good; my wife and 4 year old son don't ride the events but insist on coming for the atmosphere.

Set2Rise - shame it was wet this year, the course would be even more fun in the dry.

Torq 12:12 for all the twisty singletrack

Dean Forest was the best course.
Set2Rise was the best 6 or more hours event.

Midland Trailquests Spring Series will be the best MTB event series next year. 😉
