I've just started the annual drafting of next years 'to do' list and I thought it would be interesting to see what other people have planned, if anything?
It could be a very short ride that you really want to do to a round the world cycle ride, solo sailing trip across Rudyard Lake...anything at all. No prizes for the toughest, just a list of things that you want to do. I was going to put sort my head out but I think it's about as good as it's going to get :-}
Here's mine so far although it looks pretty full already. Some I've already done but I want to do again and some will be first times:

South Downs Way in a Day (MTB) 100 Miles (BHF event)

Cycle Cheshire Ring in a Day (MTB) 100 Miles

Paddle Cheshire Ring in a Day (Canoe) 100 Miles

Run a Marathon (legs) as yet unspecified 26.2 miles

Ride 100 miles one day every month (road bike) 100 miles x 12

24 Hour solo MTB event (MTB) as yet unspecified

Manchester to Sheffield and Back On/Off Road (MTB/cyclocross)

Ride all three routes at Llandegla non stop (MTB)

Pennine Bridleway from Middleton Top to as far as possible in a day (MTB)

100 miles in a day in a canoe? ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

I quite fancy soloing a 24hr MTB event. Hopefully I'll be able to get out to the Alps again and annihilate the Megavalanche, too.

No real plans beyond that...

24 Hour solo MTB event (MTB) as yet unspecified

Exposure 24 hour
.
.
.
.
My goals
Exposure 24 solo - to collapse over the line having given everything for 24 hours

Better this years solo result @ Mayhem - I've told the g/f when I was lying on the floor after this years event that when I said "I'm NEVER doing another 24 hour solo" she didn't hear me say "this year......"

Paint the house !!!!

Bivvy nights

Some long distance off road multi day riding

Sail more - not difficult as I've sailed once in the last 20 years !!!!

UK Gravity enduro series, or at least as many of them as possible.
Alps riding.
Nothing really beyond that, just lots of riding and knowing it can only be better than this year.

I've thought of another. Beat my current PB for the Sarn Helen. Hoping to do it in under 53 hours. Not the fastest but as above, that will be better than my previous best.

generally stumbling, from one pay-day to the next, knowing that any unexpected bills/car breakdowns etc will put me seriously overdrawn and not have any means to get myself out of the overdraft.

But, at the same time, need to sort out some replacement glazing for the house.

And then, hoping SWMBO doesn't get diagnosed with something scary following the lumps and shadows that have shown up on a recent scan.

Oh, and riding my bike... i'll be grateful for a couple of days in the Peak District in the whole year. Other than that, I'll try to get the kids out riding more, and I will be wearing a groove round Clumber Park with my regular local loop that I ride.

Good luck to you folk who have more adventurous plans than I...

No solid plans but...
West Highland way, possibly
No Fuss Endurance Downhill, maybe
Lots of local riding while unemployed, almost certainly
And if unemployment doesn't last, then blowing my redundancy payout on things I don't need, woo hoo!

I'm wondering if a pipe might look good with my latest 'tash; it works with mirrored sunglasses, and I'm thinking of throwing a hat into the mix before the end of the year. I'm probably thinking a little too far ahead, as the 'tash is a bit magnum at the moment.

Buying a downhill bike and getting my full radcore on. Might do a merida marathon, but then again it seems a bit boring. Also if I get a job I've applied for oop north I'll hopefully be doing a lot more "natural riding" than I do now as the peaks will only be about an hour away.

MOnksie, are you Leek-based?

After a disappointing summer of riding, I'd be pleased if I just managed an average of one ride per week. I would like to do the STW weekender tho'

Move to Cumbria.

Drive down to Alps with bikes for a few weeks in summer.

Nothing too strenuous really though.

Maybe do D2D and Mountain Mayhem depends how fit I can get.

Want to do Mountain Mayhem better than last time (i.e. fitter and with a bike I can ride through mud) - minor details like lack of a team etc... to be dealt with later.

Brighton Big Dog (if it's on).

W/e at 7 Stanes.

Some long days out.

It was mention of Rudyard lake that piqued my interest. Just down the road for me. The way my riding "season" has gone, a ride to Rudyard would be a good achievement ๐Ÿ˜†

I only mentioned it as I rode over to Rudyard Lake last weekend to be shown round some trails. They were rubbish and Rudyard Lake was still fresh in my mind. Still, it got some Autumn miles in the legs.
Is there any good mountain bike routes over that way?

if you stay the right side of cheeky, not really. I hope someone will come on here and correct me, but since moving from Buxton to Leek I have found the doorstep (off road) riding lacking somewhat. Once you start getting the north side of the Roaches and into 3 Shires Head, Flash and beyond into HOllinsclough there is some excellent stuff, but not a lot to entertain for an hour or two after work without getting in the car or onto the cheeky trails.

That said, there are a couple of local woods with some nice singletrack and some BIG jumps (way too big for me). I was a bit spoilt where I lived in Buxton tho'. I could be on the Pennine Bridleway within seconds of leaving the house

Race the nationals, national championships, a few decent regionals, the Mega & a few of these gravity enduro type races.

Oh, and get out on the XC bike a bit more. Got a bit sick of riding downhill this year.

Mountain Mayhem solo again
Sleepless in the saddle, either solo or team
couple of duathlons-Clumber Classic for one.
Some big proper mountain rides, really want to get out in the wilds instead of being stuff in traffic jams on the trails in the Peak District & locally.

Minimum of 4 sportives on the road bike (3 already entered).
Hell of the North Cotswolds.
Visits to Gisburn, Brechfa and one of the mid/north Wales trail centres.
Do some rides in Exmoor, the Brecons and Forest of Dean.
Get back into skiing after a 5 year absence (Tignes booked).
Redecorate flat and sell it.
Decide whether to continue with the uncertainties of being self-employed or get a 'proper' job.
Avoid getting injuries that involve a long lay-off on the bike - had one in each of the past 3 years, though of these only one was as an injury caused by cycling.
