Light polyester 'sports briefs'. For MTB, long road rides and multi-day trips. Haven't worn padded lycra shorts in about 7 years now and don't miss them at all, even less in the heat.
Those swat bibs look good. I must admit it’s been a bit hot in baggies (thin Morvélo overland selectors that are very good) so I’ve been on the gravel bike in just my bibs.
I quite fancy a bit of storage in my bibs as I mainly don’t wear a pocketed jersey and dont want to wear a pack/ strap a load of bags to the bike but need to carry my phone.
Been looking at the Morvélo overland bibs with storage but their sites down for a week. The specialized thin under short bibs look just the job for hot weather if you’re also wearing shorts.
Are they comfy, what’s the pad like?
Bibs or padded shorts. Could not do boxers! Also were are you guys riding that it is that hot? South coast here and it is lovely, just off for a lunchtime ride.
You needs one a the new fangled dropper posts mate. 🙂
I do, but no 1.5 hour commute each day to work means I've got more time to ride and I've lost 3 inches on the waist my baggy shorts slip as they are not attached to the bib shorts/liner. Which is something to bear in mind if your waistline fluctuates like mine does.
Also the issue isn't when my seat drops, but more so when it doesn't come back up and I have to makeover exaggerated hip movement to free my shorts. On the plus side it did make a 10 year laugh when they saw me doing it at the pump track/trail near my house.
It's a nice problem to have and I have shorts that I now fit in that I didn't before.
