Hi,
hopefully going tomorrow morning what is it like up there atm?
cheers Tom
Dunno but let me know what it's like when you get back, I might go Sunday morning.
will do
Thank you very much, most kind of you.
We're supposed to be trailbuilding at Gizzy on Sunday, not had any messages yet to say don't bother turning up 'cos it's too snowy / icy. Suspect the gravel piles will be pretty solid though... ๐
Tony, which part of Gizzy are you building? Put an extra brew in your flask, I'll come and visit ๐
i don't live to far away and most of the ice here has gone, i'm going up tomorrow morning too
just been told by a mate who lives at the house by the main gate of lee quarry that the road up is more or less clear with some patches of ice, he believes it will be clear by tomorrow
I live on the hill opposite Lee Quarry, the snows pretty much all gone. Tony, yep planning to build on Sunday, Terry, Craig and Ant are all talking about being out ans as there's been no official word it;s been canned from Martin I'm going. Snow had pretty much gone in Clitheroe so don't think there'll be much left at Gisburn.
Smarty, you shouldn't be able to miss us, we're buiding a link on the lower loop to miss out all the fireroad between the causeway and the start of Homebaked (the twisty volunteer built section). It's nearly finished in fact, probably Sunday and one day in the new year and it'll be open and there'll be a mile less fireroad to ride (and 500m more singletrack).
Just got back from riding Lee and Crag quarries. No snow to speak of, some sticky mud in places that does it's best to slow you down but nothing bad. Oh and the very occasional bit of ice in some dips but again nothing bad. Considering the ground will have been saturated from all the melting snow it's pretty good.
First time I've ridden the link between the two quarries. Am I right in saying it's not quite finished? Either way I'm dead impressed. Really fun decent back to Lee. The jumps on the way down are great fun too....nice touch.
was up there to today and conditions are muddy but fine. had an off though and i'm now limping ๐ ruined my chances of a ride tomorrow
philfive...Were you the guy who came off then jumped up and down with your arms in the air? Black section right at the back near the link? I almost came off myself watching that guy! ๐ณ
Linking route is not quite finished but is fine to use. We are going to let it settle over the next couple of months and then return to put abit more dust down and compact it a bit more. Fine to ride now but not the finished surface yet bit loose in a couple of sections so watch your speed on the way back down. Also please give way to horses who have a right to use the route too! If you are coming up behind a horse slow down and give a cheery hello so that rider and horse know you are there and wait for the rider to wave you past.
Moonhead that wasn't me I came off down in the bottom of the quarry after the black section although before that guy I was riding with came off at the log on the black
Hope you are all OK and no bad injuries? Anything we should know about?
Bashed and bruised but i'll srvjve, rode the same bit every weekend for last 18 months and I decided to fall off this weekend lol
link road is great , not so much goin up but comin back down is good fun with the jumps, well done to all involved . put a few pics on from todays ride , on the bike forum
