Going to try running 2x9, so thinking 36T middle. I've got M770 cranks at the mo, so can I get 36T XT suitable? Or just buy the SLX and pop on?

The deore one lasts forever and weighs only about 20g more than my SLX middle ring anyway, so I use those.

Another vote for the Deore rings. Last miles longer than any of the others with only a slight weight penalty. Makes perfect sense to me. Cheap too.
