Being one of the 'go to' bike people at work, I have the question:

What £300 commute bike for a woman? No problem with a 'proper' shaped frame rather than step through, wants flat bars and a 'fairly' upright position. I think anything could be tweaked with shorter riser stem.

Anyone? Thank'ee kindly.

Ohh! Mrs PP has a Trek 7.2, was £300 new, sounds right up your street. It's alovely comfy bike to ride, and is lasting very well (Steel chainrings , 8sp, it should!) Hers is a man's frame but they do do a ladies version. All we did was ditch the crap suspension seatpost and get some Wellgo V8 copies instead of the too small plasic pedals it came with

From your description it sounds to be a perfect match!
