Mate of mine and his 14 year old son want to try mountain biking - any one know of any good trails around Linlithgow and it's surroundings that will give them a good start without putting them off for life?
New purpose built trails behind the falkirk Wheel are perfect for an intoroduction to Mountain Biking - - Download pdf www.thehelix.co.uk/.../1322666765-Visitor%20Paths%20Text%20Page%20Sept%202011(final).pdf
On your doorstep you also have Beecraigs Country park - trails all over them (bit muddy at the moment) - or Muiaravonside country Park
There are also some purpose built trails near Bo'Ness Kineil Estate.
Bit further away- purpose built trails at Carron Valley
Enjoy
There is apparently stuff in Beecraigs park but I don't know it. Canal towpath of course runs thru the town.
Thanks gents - that will do for starters - I'll pass the info on, and hopefully we'll get them hooked....

Beecraigs took a tanking in the storms of 3rd January and a lot of stuff is still blocked - check out the parks website for more info. http://www.beecraigs.com/
Intriguingly there's something on the Friends of Beecraigs Facebook page which suggests mtb trails are in early stages of development.
BeSpoke trails on Callendar Estate (admittedly over the WL border) are great - superb example of family friendly trails near a large centre of population. http://www.bespokefalkirk.co.uk/ Red is red in that it's a little steeper than the blue, but not technical in any way (unless I've missed them...). More of this sort of thing!
Have a look on the Trail Scotland website HERE. Most of the members are from the Edinburgh and Lothians area. Post a hello and you'll definitely get some help
