If your near Chelmsford there's a Spesh concept store, an Evans and Chelmer cycles there, and there's a decent bike shop (whose name escapes me) at the bottom of Brentwood high street as well,
And Yellow jersey cycles on Willibikki high street if your a roady..
Plenty of Cycle Surgeries around too. They will price match.
Cheers.... Had a mooch around both Evans and Cycle Surgery in Spitalfields this morning. Was a little disappointed at the amount of gear on offer. Either too much commuter or road gear.
Also had a look at the Giant store on London Wall. Fair amount of gear and at least I now know I don't want a Giro Switchblade.

Was in Chelmer the other week. Not much in there and they didn't want to bleed a brake.
Didn't know there was a Specialized store.... Perhaps I should visit family more often.
