Went to see John Bishop the other day and in the set was a chat about how, before he did a long charity "triathlon", he was advised to get his, err, contact area waxed.  Apparently all serious cyclists do this

I've never heard of this before, never mind done it and I'm a ... oh

In the 21st century I thought everybody did this.

and you thought this bunch of weirdos was the safest place to ask this?

Surely the question is, why haven't you?

That's very old material - though I think it's his 25th anniversary tour isn't it?

I think BRitish Cycling exploded the myth about waxing "down there" round about 2016, made all the papers. Basically it causes more problems than it solves.

Personally, like shaving my legs, I don't do it for cycling reasons.

Interestingly, I remember a piece about British Cycling advising their Olympic lady cyclists to let their, er, garden grow, as the whole reason (well, an important reason anyway) that we have pubes is to protect our undercarriage.

I'd find it, but I'm can't think of a worksafe search term...

It’s both a friction reducer and a bad bacteria eliminator.  The only way you’d benefit from its removal is if you replace it with something that does a better job.  If you just remove it - you’re not fixing a problem, you’re making one.

Ah, the hidden inch...surely better to just trim than remove, no? The hair does something so is there for a reason...

pretty worksafe search actually, "british cycling waxing" got me there. I avoided using specific terms for nether regions....

After reading this when it came out I took it on board, but then basically had to give up competative cycling as my part time stripper gig was sufferring with negative feedback....

Seems a bit extreme when you can use a razor.

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2025/oct/22/keir-starmer-rachel-reeves-brexit-eu-labour

She wants to attribute some of her grim fiscal predicament to a bad deal that Boris Johnson negotiated, without appearing to denigrate the aspirations of leave voters.

But here's the problem for these political dimwits. If they do it this way, they...

Drum roll, can anyone see it...?

Further legitimise Farage. And seeing that the aspirations of a fair few leave voters seems to be a racially and ethnically pure Britain those aspirations can neither be met by Labour nor should they be legitimised.

Jesus, this lot are hopeless.

I saw the thread title and thought this was like chain waxing, some way to reduce friction and lengthen maintenance intervals by applying wax down there? I'll get my coat...

For all their many faults,  I'm not sure we can blame the trend for intimate waxing on Starmer, Reeves, or even Farage.

I was thinking not even the STW Forum could link 2/3rds of a Back, Crack and Sack to Brexit, seems I was wrong. 🤣 🤣

Personally I burn it off with a can of Mr Sheen and a lighter.

it seems quite popular in thailand. maybe cos of the heat and humidity and lack of stigma when your on holiday over there, but then perhaps its just because its been too hot for riding around otherwise.

Are you referring to Reeves or pubes?

I only go clean shaven for those parties and one to ones where it's expected and well, does heighten the sensations shall we say. Nothing worse than getting pubes trapped in metalwork or rubber for bringing a tear to your eye even if that's predominantly the point of the exercise.

I do like an ingrowing hair for the satisfaction of removal. But not down there. The big puss balls need to be popped without eyes-on, which can be satisfying with the warm "pfffud".

Absolutely. I can't sleep if I don't do this after my evening bath.

Yes, they wind up those that don't know any better by suggesting a waxed sack and crack is a good idea..

Once you get past 50 that's probably a bigger gain than shaving your legs

Silca speed chip or plain old putoline?

Personally I find Muc Off Chamois Cream por homme provides the right level of lube to avoid discomfort
