Has anyone got themselves a pair of waterproof trousers they can recommend?

It's for a short commute on a cargo bike, they need to be over trousers and full or 3/4 length zips so I can get them over my comically big steel toecapped work boots.

I've seen a couple for around £50 but neither are cycle specific so no reflectives (not essential, but nice), and the cheaper pair are fairly bulky but I'd like to just leave them in the panniers all year round so thin and packable is preferably to heavier duty ones.

Rainlegs  are very good for bikes with full mudguards.  Over medium or longer distances the fact they don't cover the lower legs is IMO outweighed by the fact your legs breath very well.

Possibly not for a short low effort commute but worth considering.

I'll caveat this with the fact that I probably look ridiculous but I've recently got a cycling poncho (People's Poncho) for my ten minute commute. Quick to put on and keeps me surprisingly dry.

Failing that rainlegs for drizzle.

I have considered a poncho!  Decathlon do one but the reviews are quite mixed over how waterproof it is, and I think it's a bit short so would get wet legs.  I think I saw someone wearing one this morning though and it looked better than I expected in real life.

I just got a pair of cheap decathlon ones (running ones I think), they live at the bottom of my pannier and I've only used them once during a proper deluge, they did they job

I have the Gravel trousers from Decatholon but they appear to have been discontinued unfortunately. I was happy with them for this time of year, but not much help if they're no longer available.

Thanks all. After wasting several hours I've gone with Mac in a Sac packable overtrousers

The People's Poncho one seems OK but time will tell.

I think the gravel trews have become <a href=" removed link " target="_blank" rel="noopener">city ones:

A bit late to the party but I have a pair of these that I use for hiking when the weather gets nasty -

They go on over my hiking boots fine and roll up small for keeping in my daysack.

I've got these and would recommend. Sensible price, taped seams and large zips at the lower leg for massive feet.

Another vote for the raf mvp trousers, cheap, waterproof and so far pretty tough. Use mine for working in the rain only because I bought the army combat wombat ones for riding.

I’ve just started with a poncho for my cargo bike school runs. I have some decent waterproof troos but can never be bothered with the faff and find them a bit sweaty.

So far the poncho is taking a bit of adjustment to keep comfy and not flapping everywhere but I think I’m getting there. The combo of mudguards and poncho certainly keeps the legs dry.
