Whats the argument for or against 3/4 versus full length waterproof trousers for offroad cycling?
Do the full length ones suffer in regards to chain rings and or 3/4...do you get soggy feet, due to water/mud still running down your legs and past the neoprene cuff of my Big S winter boots?
is this a no brainer or a conundrum, please help!
I have both the altura attack 3/4 shorts and trousers. I have used the 3/4s for a few seasons and got on fine with them, and yes, you do get water running down your shins into your shoes, even good waterproof ones. Recently though i got the full trousers to get over this problem, and with the straps at the bottom pulled tight over the tops of my mw80s i now have dry feet on my rides. I have never had any problems with my chain rubbing the trousers though. One word of caution though with either is that if you walk/ride through deep puddles/rivers etc. and your feet get totally submerged they get wet anyway. The only other thing to consider is the temperature of your legs inside as they are obviously less ventilated than normal shorts, so i now wear the 3/4s in warm summer rain and the full trousers in cold winter rain. So, you just need to decide wich will suit the conditions you ride in the best.
full this time of year,
Look out for the Aldi full length ones. Only 7 quid.
Ebay army gortex. There is no contest, mine are cut down, 3 years old and still going strong, never let any water through. The girls have 2 year old ones which havent been cut down. Depending on your size you can pick them up for £5 + delivery and ours were new

Some Aldi stuff is great, but I have some of those waterproof trousers and I wore the arse out of them in one ride.
Also got some Altura Dryline trousers, the fit is terrible, tight on the thighs and can't adjust them round the waist so that they stay up. Seem durable though, but that might be 'cos I've not worn them much.
I might try some of the army goretex ones.
