Off to bike park wales for a day next month, plan was to kip in the van then go to black mountains.

uplifts are booked up for the second day at bpw and black mountain, is there anywhere within an hour or so to ride or shall I just beast the climb at bpw the second day??

cheers

It’s fairly easy to get on the bus without a full day pass, lifts are £4 a go I think and £10 to get in. Buy them in the centre.

Other than that the world’s your lobster. Afan and Cwmcarn are both within an hour, as is FOD and Brechfa is just over I guess if you want waymarked stuff.

Brecon is just up the road.

Cwm carn is less than 30 mins away. Well worth a visit if you do both loops.

Is all of Cwmcarn open after the fire?

No, only the Cafal side and it’s quite heavily diverted around double track ‘farm tracks’ at the moment. Reopens 11/08.

We did the MBR black mountains killer loop on Monday and would heartly recommend it if you can face the 29 miles. Done the Gap before and enjoyed that also. Depends if you want trail centre or off piste really.
