It's that time again.
The Weekend Ride Picture Thread.
I can't believe it's still not rained yet.
Get out there.
Ride your bike.
Take some pictures.
Post them up with a few words.
Â
GT mashup this morning with Mrsstu.
Even the stream at the bottom of Thunderstruck has gone it's been that dry.

Â
Beaten to it by @singlespeedstu by 1 minute!
Mods, can we merge these two threads, or delete/close my one?
1 minute 🤣
Almost a photo finish.
Modest - and slow - gravel ride for me this morning - feeling lethargic and Wednesday night's 54km SS ride seems to have twanged something in my knee. Anyway, another stunner here in West Yorkshire ...
No riding for me again, got another 6 or so weeks off the mtb, so no doubt the trails will be a shit fest by then.
Do have 3 nights in the Lakes District starting Sunday, so plenty of walking.Â
Enjoy the dust everyone, I'm very jealous!
Evening bimble just chilling, pint before the ferry back and a bonus ice cream van in Sandbanks.

Pedalled to the seaside todayÂ
Yesterday was our last day of riding in Finale and it was a hard one. 47 miles and just over 2500m of descent taking in some of the EDR trails and others further into the backcountry.
Had an amazing time here and can't wait to be back in September.
Moving across into France to see what we can find on our way back to the UKÂ
Â
Â
Less than 15 minutes after wheels down in Dublin airport, I was on the road home. Then only 5 minutes after arriving home, I was on the bike. Not bad!
Just a short run from home yesterday, nothing extreme just nice to be spinning the legs in the sunshine.
Another easy 7 mile ride with my youngest. Pretty fresh in t shirt and shorts!
Cut his bars down to 680mm from the last ride of 740, and he was a lot more stable. He even did a few of the singletrack routes around the forest, nothing too gnarly, but it was helping him with his bike control. He loved it. Trails were very quiet today, which was odd.
We found some weird little shrine, too. Not sure which bike god it's trying to appease.Â
Then stopped off for cake and coffee (hot choccy for him) on the way home.
Ribs are feeling better, the sharp pain has gone, just achey 1st thing in the morning and after a days work . Mobility is pretty much normal, which is good. 4 weeks in and i think i was lucky and got away with doing more long term damage.
Â
Â
Another dusty day on the bike.
Not ridden the eebers for over a month so took them out for a spin round.
2000meters and just over 40km of Golfie and Inners mashup.
Hardly saw anyone after our first climb.
Just a short pootle close to home figuring out some bits to link up and finding paths I didn't know existed
Â
Last day in Finale. Clothes and bed sheets washed. Van swept out. Bikes cleaned and fettled. Quick blast out for some lunch
6.6 miles 42m of descentÂ
Â
Â

Â
Very dusty 42 miles, 24 off road. Three and a half hours roughly. Bear in mind I was still on crutches 4 weeks ago. Now four months post extensive pelvic fractures. Hip socket seems okay and no pain, which hopefully means it's healed smooth as it was cracked in quite a few places.
Quick run round the local. Bumped into some Trail Pixies, some old faces I'd not seen for ages, and at least two cool dogs. Legs (and general fitness) still not where I'd like them to be - still not really recovered from my double leg cramping DNF at Hamsterley last week...
My god it's lethally dry and scrattley out there. A couple of relatively benign baby-head rock sections tried to kill me yesterday.
8 hour round trip to look at and buy a bike yesterday. 4 more hours driving to get good dry trails today. 1 happy Reeksy1.
A short afternoon ride out from a holiday let outside Aldeburgh, into Thorpeness and back. It's not as warm here as the rest of the country, but was still dry and sunny yesterday
Local, loose, steep and dusty.

Ochils Randonee today. Dunblane to Tillycoultry via Meikle Corum, Blairdenon, Ben Buck, Ben Cluech, Andrew Gannel Hill and the 'Tilly Trench' descent down Gannell Burn. Back via cycle lanes in the valley.
All the dust, wind, heat and tiredness.
Â
Â
Have spent the weekend at Glentress, today I did a loop over Gypsy Glen. Soo dry!
No pics, but spectacular day yesterday riding the uplift at revs.
I have never ridden there in the dry and it is awesome. But very strange without the trees
I've had a busy few weekends doing loads of other good stuff but with limited time for riding so I've not posted on one of these threads for a bit. This weekend it was my mum's 75th so we have been away with her all weekend.
Managed to squeeze a quick bash round the local singletrack in this evening though. Even bagged a segment KOM I've had my eye on for a bit.
Jumps were sketchy AF though, and inch deep of dust in some places, very slidey.
Â
Saturday ride with the boys ended up being six and a half hours. Mid ride pub stop, Bakewell pubs were queuing out of the door and the only beer that co-op had were big boxes, so....
We did have two other encounters with the pub further on though.
Â
Had a noob with us and he absolutely loved it

Â
I'll throw in a video from Dyfi of the boy on an A200 on Saturday.
Just back from 3 a blue sky trip to Mortimer Forest/Bringwood trails, then both loops of Penmachno with a few extra (and it was dry, I have never seen it dry!) followed by a loop round the Gwydir/Marin. Brilliant fun, superb weather and no injuries!
Spin round for a couple of hours this morning just to finish off my weekend.
Great ride apart from the mute ebike****er trying to silently push past on a single track climb.
Just wait for the 20 seconds until I'm out onto the fire road and pass with a cheery greeting you ****.
Â
On a lighter note found some relics of the North shore features that got wrecked in a storm years back.

That must've been a bugger of a headwind all the way heading along the tops - I only rode up the Jerrah track and across to Colsnaur yesterday late on and that was bad enough. Actually not that bad on an ebike admittedly...

Â
Heading up your way next weekend I think but after riding Boltby Bash at the weekend, I think mute ebike****ers are a common thing rather than an exception!
Â
Was this the last weekend of dry n dust before more of a return to normality? Possibly, given it's currently raining - lightly but BIG drops - as I type this...
Bookended my weekend with two rides. First, locally on the Cascade early morning while it was still cooler:
I was pushed for time again last night so the ebike got another outing. Helped quite a bit against the decent headwind on the climb east onto the Ochils from Sherrifmuir and was blowing a hoolie on Colsnaur summit before the descent. Finished in the local woods accompanied by the scent of wild garlic.

Seems to be a tourist thing round here thankfully and normal quite easy to avoid.
Â
My weekend went from this
To this in a few seconds
It all started so well! Lovely day exploring ruined by some buried wire that stopped the bike dead... unfortunately I carried on over the bars and used my face as a brake.Â
11 stitches to face, lip and chin later I'm taking drinks by straw.
Big thanks to Ian the Spaniard for picking up the pieces and for NHS A&E for sewing me back together in under 3.5hrs, exemplary service.
You know its good when a senior doctor (I know this because he had that sewn on his scrubs) says "oooh, that's deep" and chuckles to himself.
So no riding or driving for 48hrs under concussion protocol and I'll need to replace my @rad8cyclingglasses as the lens is super scratched, they did however save my eye from serious injury so shout out to them too 🙏
Â
We live to ride another day!
Aaawww.
Looks nasty that does.
Hopefully you heal up quick.
