Meeeerd.
Here for the next few days. Was hoping of a bit of "ballern" avec lift.
Shame. Looks like it'll be a sit and pedal day. At least we'll save a few €s and get a bit of a work out at the same time.
Was in the Pyrenees a couple of weeks ago, but every park opens in July. Meeeerd.
Don't understand it.... With global warming there's no snow in June. Skiing/boarding sucks, uses loads of water and energy to spray the slopes with fake snow, loads of fuel each evening for the Pisten Bullies, yet bike trails require relative little investment and maintenance.
Still, Aínsa hat a few winch and plummet trails that were worth the effort. Nice town, too.
Fortunately we're passing through the alps at the start of July on our way to southern Italy. Lifts are open by then. Already got a plan!
Merci bowcooo!
It depends on where you go, but as many French ski resorts are somewhat over developed, they don’t have much of a summer season, so outside of the summer season it’s not financially viable to open the lifts. Outside of Morzine, very few resorts make much money in the summer apparently.
Switzerland and Austria, because the villages tend to be more picturesque, tend to have a longer summer season, as it’s been established for longer.
I know... Lived in the edge of the alps (Munich) for years. Sadly the Bavarians are so stuck in their ways they see mtb as something new and as such there are zero parks of note. Austria is a little better, but Tyrol has crap laws outside of any designing areas.
Switzerland and Italy are much better. Longer seasons, esp some parks in Italy. Just never really bothered with France due to distance, but don't understand why the parks are only open weekends despite there being no snow on the hills.
