Hello ๐Ÿ™‚ I'm originally from the UK- SOuth East- Canterbury to be exact. I've been in Australia and New Zealand now for 10 yrs and coming back for a visit next week.

Anyway- the whole "bike park thing" took off the year i left so i'm keen to come over and ride in Wales from the 18th - 25th August. The question is.....WHERE TO RIDE ๐Ÿ˜€ And also WHERE TO STAY ๐Ÿ˜€

My budget for accommodation will be $400 for a week. Cheaper would be better. I'll have no car so will be training/ busing to the destination from London.

Does anyone have some suggestions and even better- could some folk show me the trails in that area?

Coming from NZ - Christchurch infact- I'm happy to grind up all day and head down rocky trails. I'll be on a Trance X with a 150mm Rev fork and 2.3 / 2.4 Rubber Queens.

Thanks guys- and I appreciate any advice/ recommendations.

Hey mate, I am a kiwi living in Cardiff and would be happy to show you around some of the local trails, I don't bother too much with trail centres cause there is so much singletrack surrounding where I live.

Most best sites and routes here:

http://www.imba.org.uk/

The mtb centers are all way marked.

Best and cheapest transport is by coach.

I would think that any of these should be able to help.

Can you take bikes on a coach?

And, in fact, for all the fannying about and if you're really serious about going low budget...rent a minivan and sleep in the back! ๐Ÿ˜‰

it's not quite the Rotorua redwoods but Coed-y-Brenin is worth a day out, Penmachno Trail is pretty good too.

I would have thought that train is the best way, they are all quite bike friendly, don't know how to PM on this site... my email address is hills_brendan at yahoo.co.uk

If you live in Cardiff take a look at the Wednesday night ride organised by www.mtb-wales.com, if biking and beer is your thing then it's a good night out, alternatively there are rides going from Castle Bikes in Caerphilly on a Monday and Thursday night. But yeah you are welcome to come along for a ride anyho

I reckon i'll hire a car after seeing those prices ๐Ÿ˜€ Way less hassles too. I'll be in Canterbury South East for a week and then head across for a week.

Maybe a camper would work well? Anyone know of cheap camper hire? Google shows this to be a expensive option in the UK....

Hey Scrappy- the more the merrier!

b_man. I've just emailed you ๐Ÿ™‚

Campers aren't cheap in the UK. Can you borrow a tent?
