I've bought the Garmin UK and Ireland TOPO Light map (the one based on Open Street Map) for my Oregon 700 but can only view it in Base Camp if the Unit is plugged in via USB. I have a virtual drive set up with a Garmin folder and the map files installed but still can't view the map in Base Camp.
I bought a map from Garmin years ago only to find that it was locked to the second hand sd card it came on and a downloaded one that turned out to be locked to the first unit it was downloaded to. After a shoddy response from Garmin Customer services I swore never to buy another Garmin map. However, since the TOPO Light page advises that the Open Street Map based TOPO Light maps aren't subject to the Garmin EULA and disclaims any responsibility for accuracy or liability for the OSM based product (I'm not sure how they get around the "non-commercial use" of OSM) I'd assumed that the map wouldn't be locked.
Do I need to use an unlocker (if one is available) to view the Map in Base Camp without the Oregon attached?
