Just taken delivery of a new Victory Chimp sherpa fleece. I like the fit, it's windproof and the colour is great. I'm a bit on the fence about returning it as it's pretty thick and looks like it could get pretty hot on the bike. Anyone own one? does it run too hot/sweaty once above 5 degrees? claims to be very breathable but it's not small when rolled up.

Is it windproof? Have you tried it or just accepting the product description? I've got the sleeved and hooded jacket version, it's about as windproof as a tea bag.

It's not that good as a cycling jacket because the hood balloons up when you're riding, not a problem for your gilet mind.

Just going by the product description currently, not used as I may return. TBF it does not look very windproof

I've got one of these gilets but, based on the design/fabric, i didn't really buy it with cycling in mind...wanted a new gilet for general around the house, post-ride etc and just liked the look of it. I wouldn't be adverse to using it for cycling but I normally lay up with thin garments so doubt it will get used whilst out riding

Does look good for a “round the house” gilet, but I need a riding gilet. Anyone ridden in one?

You already own it. Just go for a ride and you tell us.

You've not read any of coconut's threads before have you?

It doesn't look like the sort of thing I'd wear on a bike, mainly because I think the temperature differential between my body and my arms would be too great. Mind you, it doesn't look windproof at all - unless there's another layer under that fleece (which would, in my opinion, be the wrong way round). I have a thin Endura Primaloft gilet but that I mostly carry around as a spare layer in the event I have an enforced stop (or an unenforced one at a cafe😉). It packs up very small too.

The material description is the same as the jacket I have. There's no lining. I assume that the 'windproof' comment applies to the patch pocket only, and they forgot to mention that detail. I've certainly never been afflicted with a breezy left tit since I owned it.

I haven't. Is this regular behaviour?
