This has been bugging me, Right a seller on gumtree selling these very nice MOUNTAIN BIKES some very highly spec'd(custom) and mostly 26er's. I find it strange these Mountain bikes are for sale in St annes Lancashire Nearest trail center is 40 miles away. They say they are a trusted cycle business, they don't have a shop and have been selling for around a year now, I'm not saying anything other than a lot of bikes do go missing never to be found again. They used to sell on eBay until I asked the question Where does the bike come from?

Take a look.

I've no idea about 26er prices, that prophet looks ok for the money but hardly a give away price? No reason if you have a bit of money, storage and patience you couldn't make some money buying and selling 2nd hand bike? Ebay fee's are silly, so moving to gumtree as a one man band, would give him the edge to keep trading.
Seems to be this ebuyer (same mobile)Ansdelbike

I would say all the ad's are photographed at the same place, so they at least seem to have the bikes, maybe ask for a serial number (and see what how they respond to that), and do are search on the stolen bike sites?

They're all pretty old. They must be cornering the market in 45lb bikes. Can't remember the last time I saw one if those old Konas about so I reckon it'd be easier to steal modern stuff than those. I suspect they're just buying up neglected old bikes which have been dug out of sheds and poorly advertised before tarting th m up for a bit of profit.

Nowt wrong with that. Although There are plenty of bikes I'd sooner spend £500 on myself.

I see why you are suspicious, but it might just be some bell end trying to sell crap bikes to mugs.

I'm not saying there stolen or trying to give them a bad reputation, they are Ansdelbike I think, Ive seen them riding around on the bikes and I'm not going to say anymore than that. I just find it odd where are they getting them from in an area where Hybrids and Road bikes rule.

No couriers in your part of the world?

Are you local to the area OP? Plenty of MTBers around there, judging by an FB group I'm a member of.

Just a guy selling bikes I reckon.

I know a guy who lives in Lytham who has an Orange 5, with a dropper and everything!!

As Bob says phone number brings up 34 bikes on Google search and all those 9 Gumtree bikes are on Ebay!! Weird if they are stolen as all seem really dated?

It was a serious question...A trail centre doesn't make a mountain biker...so I was asking as it did sound like you were being serious...

I think there's another mountain biker down my street. And I've seen the guy over the road on an e-mtb, but I don't know if that counts?

There is/was a bike shop not far from there that sold a lot of kona dh bikes. Perhaps the owner lives by the sea? Not far from bowland or the lakes?

Barely an hour from the Peak District. I'm sure there are closer places to ride, but plenty of people will drive an hour to ride. The Dales and Gisburn / Forest of Bowland and the southern end of the Lake District are similar ranges. PMBA operates in that neck of the woods. Plenty reasons for decent (if older) mtb's to be around the place.
