[Closed] Using good tyres and latex tubes on rollers - will (my tyres) die?

Beautiful weekend so want to take the nice bike out and have it ready to snatch other good weekends also going forward, but ALSO ready for quick indoor sessions if it's too miserable out (the joys of Scottish seasons 🙄)

I think people generally use normal tyres on rollers, am guessing heat build up isn't an issue?

It's not a turbo. There's no resistance

Ergo won't be any worse for the tires than a roll down the road.

It is a waste of good tires they will square off due to the nature of rolling on a flat surface eventually but is it worth swapping back and forth....naw .

Not like a turbo which could write off tires in one high resistance interval session

I reckon that's not quite true trail-rat....

The heat WILL build up and ruin the tyre.

The tyre against a roller/turbo/road creates friction, thus heat...
On a road you leave the 'heat patch' behind you as you ride....
But on a turbo/roller the 'heat patch' is the roller...and never gets the chance to cool down as it just 'comes back round again a split second later'....
Honestly.. this things get HOT!

Your tyre will shred and fling black everywhere, and be square after one ride....

It's fine, honestly. Everyone at the track warms up on rollers and expensive tyres. If you're really worried about it, point a fan at the rear wheel.

It's my experiance rather Than theorising.

Anyone who's ridden on rollers knows you don't ride on the same patch of roller the whole time - you deviate slightly by the nature of rollers.

Turbos yep trash a tire quick for reasons you state. But turbos are not rollers.
