We will be in touch
Hi,
Currently running 3x9 Shimano, but was looking at going 2x10 or 1x10, but wanted to try out 2x10 first.
Have 10spd shifters and have the 10spd cassette, chain and rear derailleur ready to order.
Will the chainrings and front derialleur from the original setup run with the new 10spd extras?
Cheers
My 9-speed rings look annoying similar to my 10-speed rings, so similar that I didn't bother changing them when I went to 10 speed. Didn't notice any difference.
On the chain ring front Officially no, but in practice it works fine.
I don't think the front shifter will work with a 9 speed mech. Shimano changed the cable pull ratio on the rear and I assume they did the same on the front.
10spd chain, 9spd rings, 9spd front mech, 10spd shifters...

As above.
Front rings no.
Front mech yes (thinner chain on 10 spd).
I should add that it may work but I can say the width of a 10 Speed front mech (Duel xt) was narrower than my 9 Speed (Duel xt).
My front rings are marked as 9/10 speed. So in theory no problem. In practice when I did what you plan the 10 speed chain stuck to the slightly worn front rings and made an annoying noise such that I ended up buying a new front ring anyway
Chainrings on a road bike work with a 9 speed chain on 10 speed rings.
Again on a road bike, 9 speed front mech works with 10 speed chain.
