Ok, just removed the rear cassette and realised most of the spokes are sheering through- two actually had snapped already last week (eek). Removed the freehub as it was freezing/siezing (Chris King) and some of the splined teeth are 'sheered'? As well.
The hub is a ISO circa 6yrs old and possibly saveable but will need tlc, parts and then a rebuild with new spokes etc.
I need a rear wheel for this weekend though.
Any recommendations for a rear wheel anyway? Fairly blingy but not expensive. I already have THREE front wheels (inc the original King 9mm that came as part of the King wheelset) so dont need a new wheelset.
Borrow a wheel for the weekend?
All the bits you need to rebuild your king hub are at aspirevelotech.com
Go for the stainless steel steel driveshell and swap bearings over. http://www.aspirevelotech.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=CKDRSHELLS
Is it a bit wrong to enjoy servicing your hubs 😀
It was a joy to clean and re-oil everything not so long ago. apart from two cleans Ive had no problems in 6yrs 🙁
blingy and inexpensive?
Hope Pro2 on a Stans Flow?
£180 though
borrow one then re-service tbh......sounds like poor maintenance to me however....... 🙄
is manchester such a bump hole that there is no bike shop in the whole town or is our chubby moronic friend being and id10t again...
If you fancy nipping down the A56 into Altrincham then bikeshak have a pro2/flow in stock. 10% off if you're a Singletrack subscriber.
