Not be, but a riding buddy in that London was exploring around Wapping the other day and got this shot. I think the sand actually looks alright!!!

Better make sure you know when the tide turns!

We managed 30 miles there and back of beach straight out of Southampton on Sunday. There's pics on UK fatbikes. It's amazing what you can find on your doorstep with a little looking (and the right tyres) ๐Ÿ˜€

Edit - here you go!
Whats better than an epic beach ride from your door? Well if it means extra pub stops, not much in my book! Weston Shore to Lee-On-The-Solent via the Hamble-Warsash Fatbike Ferry - 30 miles of beach plus a bit each end equals a 40+ mile fatbike excursion.

Unfortunately the tide was completely wrong, so all 30 miles were in the leg-sapping soft shingle at the top of the beach ย ::)

Mike bought a fatbike last year. He just didn't get it, and sold it shortly after. We lent him another one. Can you see him smiling? No, he still don't get it ย ??? ???

I'm sad old cynic about new bike fads

But that looks fun and I might be sold if I didn't live as far from the coast as is possible in the UK

Ps on here you want the BB code not the html embed

40mpg, you sir have answered the question I've been wondering since I ordered a fatty frame. The route you took, is it better/ easier at low tide as I plan on doing a version of your route with my daughter on a cross bar childseat

Think I would rather ride on the London roads, more interesting than riding on a beach, next to a sewage ridden river...

Lummox, definitely low tide, lower the better. We started at 9.30am with a very high tide at 12.00 so ended up spending most of the day crawling along at 4mph grinding through the loose shingle at the top of the beach.

At low tide I can get up to 7 or 8 mph! (actually a lot of its like compacted gravel at low tide so you can fly along. Pick a less windy day too!)

What you get at low tide:

I've always been pro fat bikes as their existence hardly makes my life any worse. Problem is that they just don't fit with how and where I ride.
I love coast walks and looking for fossils. So rather than file it in the mountain bike part of my life it should be a tool for beach exploration. Hastings to Winchelsea beach should be excellent. Not sure if I could do there and back with the tide and the ride back inland is a shocker.
edit. The ride above looks excellent . It's not so much about the ride as where you are riding.
