Big up to the universal mech hanger.
Hit a tree stump yesterday, heard a crunch, stopped just in time. Spoke intertwined with mech, mech at funny angle, feared the worst. Ride over. With the best trail of the day ahead.
But WAIT!
The universal mech hanger thing did its job perfectly, it rotated with the forces buying me just enough distance to stop saving the mech (and itself) from damage. Bolted everything back together and its like nothing happened. The spare hanger remains a spare.
I only realised they were an actual thing last year when i went to buy the spare mech hanger for the Trek (FuelEX) and thought it was a great idea - an actual universal design, but a design that is designed to move out the way instead of sacrifice itself. Turns out it works.
Props to SRAM for this one. All your other stuff is still shite, but credit where credit is due 🙂
Glad to hear you had a positive experience. Are these the same UDH that has been damaging some carbon frames?
