I cant ๐
No issues with wire bead High Rollers, just cannot manage to do the same with the Aspens which are folding.
I usually use CO2 canisters to inflate but if I waste another canister on these suckas I'll lose the plot. Any tips? I am using nearly neat fairy liquid.
Cheers,
Andy
Use neat washing up liquid put it on thick
I really wouldn't recommend Aspens for tubeless, the exception sidewalls are paper thin and tear very easily, I got through 3 tyres in a couple of months.
Still ain't found a tyre I can't set tubeless on Stans with just a pump
Are they new? I had no probs at all with a nobby nic on crests with a cheapo track pump, but had ridden it on tubes a few times, might help to get the creases out the bead.
wrap a rope/strap around the tyre, this pushes the bead into the rim and allows it to seal better.
votext - can you show us pics of that trick?
I've done an Aspen 2.24 folding on a Bontrager Rhythm rim, inflated first time. Done lots of folding Maxxis tyres on my other bike with Flows. Covering the rim strip with neat washing up liquid, then fitting tyre and inflating with track pump has nearly always worked first time. If it hasn't, more washing up liquid!
sounds like the key to it is neat washing up liquid.
only last week I got a Single Ply Wire Bead High Roller seated on a Flow Rim with stans tape.....left it up at 40 psi for an hour, broke the bead on one side put some sealant in....guess what I could not get the tyre seated again....that well did my head in!
Gonna try again this week when i get 3 hours to spare LOL
I know it works cos got my DT5.1 ghettoed last year no problem!
I ran one tubeless on a Flow. Very thin sidewalls, felt wobbly and generally a bit sketchy. Much less grip than an Ardent and not so much faster that it felt worth the flimsiness, took it off after a couple of rides.
