i've managed to set some old wheels up tubeless using reinforced tape and some presta valves cut from a pair of knackered old tubes. works great and both seem to be holding air fine for the last few weeks/rides but it's niggling me that the valve holes are drilled to schraeder and therefore a likely failure point in the future as the rubber bit on the end of the valve could pull through the bigger hole. tried ghetto style with bmx tube before and didnt get on with it what a faff that was!
anyway has anyone in a similar situation used a scooter/motorbike tubeless valve like THIS?
not much info but looks a) a tad short and b) possibly a bit fat to go in the rim and allow space for tyre bead. using mavic 719's, so not super skinny. saying that at £3 i might just buy one and see how it goes...
Can't speak for that one, but all my motorbike valves would be much too big for a bicycle wheel.
The Roval tubeless valve has a fairly big base, I've got one fitted into a Stans' rim that was drilled out to take a rim strip. Not quite as big a hole as a schrader valve though so no guarantees it'd work with yours.
ah, hadn't realised schrader valves come in different diameters! will send them a msg to check, and have a gander at those roval valves too. cheers!
It's not that the valve stem varies but the base on the ones I've got is very fat- it'd not fit into the well of any rim I've had, even the big dh rims.
oh and i want just coming to the idea of these gold ones too! nevermind 😳

Here's what you need:

Done 5 sets of wheels with these now. Super easy, and with the core removed, it makes akward tyres easier to seat too.
🙂
Had the same problem, searched for ages to find Schraeder valves which were screw down and had removable cores...
In the end I splashed out a little and got this:

Worked a treat. I cut one of the rim strips down to just use the valve and it's sealing fine with duck tape on the rim.
didnt realise stans/joes had brought out schrader valves now... doh!
andyrm those valves sound good but your link doesnt work.
cheers!
