So I have ordered some new wheels and unlike my old ones don't need rim strips, just valves (hopefuly).
Looking to buy some tubeless valves and they seem stupidly expensive for what they are. Is there any reason why a valve (with removable core) cut out of an innertube wouldn't work. For the price of one valve I can buy 2 tubes and make a chainstay protector at the same time!
sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Depends on the tube/valve/rim hole etc... as to whether you get a seal. I have 50% success rate with bodged valves from tubes and 100% rate with tubeless valves.
Don't forget as well that most (all?) tubeless valves have a removable core which makes filling with sealant a doddle. A lot of tubes don't.
Done this myself on loads of wheelsets. Not a problem at all 🙂

Most if not all Schwalbe tubes have removable cores... great when the core gets blocked with sealant. Mavic wheels will come with a core removal tool if thats what your getting.
Your new wheels might come with valves. My Mavic ones did.
