Has anyone found a decent way of cutting out the valve stem hole? I've tried a countersink, drill bit and a deburring tool. All rip the tape rather than cut a nice hole for sealing. Annoying first world problem.

You're over thinking it. Cross cut using Stanley knife has never failed to work for me

Sharp knife/scalpel. Make a cross then carefully go round the edges of the hole. A small, fine file (of the type used for model making) can help give a good finish.

I just use a sharp knife for a tiny slit in the tape and push the valve through.

I just push a valve straight through it. Works perfectly.

Ah it seems the simplest solutions may be the best. Cheers !
