Hi
I have a fox 32 float RL 140 at the front and a fox evolution RL rear shock. Currently the front sag is 30mm and at 60psi and the rear shock sag is at 20mm and 110psi. I'm just over 10.5 stone and I'm hoping this is right? Feels ok when I ride but just wondering if I can get more from it. Anyone have any expertise to add or are there similar weight riders with the same set up?
Im about 10 stone and sag my fox forks about 25% with 55-60 psi
Rear shock is going to depend on the eye to eye, stoke and weather its a high volume can aswell as its preset compression tune. Mine is a larger volume with boost valve and has about 110psi for 25% sag
On a float 140 a little more sag than 30mm may be better... about 25-30% is going to be about 40mm??
Don't obsess over sag, it's just one part of the big picture, and there's no "correct" setting. Floats do seem to need a fair bit of sag if you want to get near the full travel.
Thanks, not being obsessed over it, just wanted some tips to make the best use of it, but thanks anyway mate
My approach is to randomly fanny around with them til they feel right ๐ Surprisingly effective.
not checked my sag for a couple of years, I also just fanny about with the psi till it feels good.
Fill with air, set wiper ring to edge of shock housing.
Don all trail kit and back pack, then gently sit on bike, let travel "happen".
Then slowly get off, then measure amount of sag (25%), add or remove air as required (turn pro pedal off by the way)
As for the front fork kind of the same, use a cable tie to round the stanchion/seal area to mark the start of the travel.
Then ride your snarliest down hill and make sure the "O" ring wiper does not pop off the end.
Job done.
I like a nice aloo sag....
I have Talas 140mm FIT forks, I only run about 15-20mm of sag and will easily reach full travel when the trail dictates it. I do use enduro seals and fork juice so not sure if this slippery combo helps with the full travel..
should we be in the "attack" position or just sat on the bike?

This - I obsessed over it then thought it was the shock holding me back when infact it was me overthinking everything and not just relaxing.
Now I just ensure its regularly getting its full travel and ride under recommended psi.
This too

Just remember if you are in a gnarly mood, you may need to make adjustments ๐ I broke the air piston shaft on my Recons just this week. The damage was done when I missed a transition and landed my 100KG on the flat with a CRACK. I dont do jumping and my poor little forks were not set up for incompetence ๐ฏ
I'd get in the ready position to set sag rather than just sitting on the bike. In my experience forks are too soft for hard use if set up sitting down.
I have a fox 32 float RL 140 on my zesty, I am about 10st 2 lbs as normal bodyweight (not with all my riding kit) I hate a fork thats dives so always ran 75psi but found I wasnt getting full travel even though the fork felt nice in the turns and braking, I have dropped the pressure recently to 65psi and whilst the fork does dive a bit more, it is getting all of its travel and the bike seems to ride more forgiving. In my personal experience setting correct sag on my shock has been a reasonably exact science to getting it set right, but I always found following the theorys on fork sag never worked for me, I always found so many factors affect fork sag like seal stiction and various other things, so whilst I follow the 25% shock rule, I just go with what felt right on the forks. (I reckon if i ran 55psi in my Fox 140's I'd be smashing them off the bump stop all the time !)
