I've recently got a wheel truing stand, and have so far trued two wheels. I'm not going to say it was easy, as I'm still expecting both wheels to explode on the next outing..
The most difficult thing about truing both wheels was trying to work out which way to turn each nipple. Are there any simple aide memoirs to remember which way to turn the nipple to both tighten and loosen each spoke?
Righty tighty,lefty loosey.
Yup - at the outside end of each nipple is a slot as for a screwdriver, and you turn to tighten as you would with a screw. Righty tighty, lefty loosey.
righty tighty, lefty loosey, roundy confusingy
as you look from above the rim down to the hub, clockwise tightens and anticlockwise loosens just as if it was a conventional screw or bolt
Nipple = nut
Spoke = bolt
Thanks all, scardypants, that's perfect!
