Can someone tell me if these brakes are to be used with road type levers or v brake type levers? Or are there two types of TRP spyres and id need to order the correct ones to match the lever already on the bike.

They're for road levers. If you want something for mtb levers then you need the Spyke.

There’s two types of basically the same model, spyres for drop levers and spykes for flat bar levers with differing actuation ratios, although I found my spyres worked perfectly fine with a set of Paul love levers on Jones bars
