A few people expressed an interest in having Ay-Ups modified by Troutie last year. Did anyone have this done? What did you think? I've just been out "lummened" but don't want to splash out on new lights.

If Troutie is about, is this still a service you offer?

Cheers.

If you have an older system, Ay-Up will upgrade it http://www.ayup-lights.com/products/categories/12/ and the cost is pretty reasonable IMO. They only do so many systems per week, though.

Of course, if you have the current version or want it even brighter, you'd need to have someone else work on it.

What does it involve?

Does it affect the battery life?

How much does it cost?

No idea on how it effects battery life but not had any complaints from users .

it involves removal of the leds and optics and replacement with XPG leds and reflectors plus a front lexan cover .
I only do the one reflector and it makes a spottier beam

Why do light manufacturers make handlebar mounts because when you're climbing and pulling on the bars the light is all over the place. Why not make an adjustable stem mount?

After a mate getting a fancy smudge light i'm sorely tempted to send my ay-ups off too. The batteries are going back to Oz under warranty anyway (cable sheath split at the battery end). only problem is with only on/off they could be too bright when climbing!
