Anybody recommend a good xc ride around the fells. Seen bridle ways on OS map but not sure if theory are rideable or worthwhile. Thanks.

Salter Fell is an ok there and back BW but lots of the Trough is policed by gamekeepers so pick your time for riding with this in mind.

Better for road riding - have you transport as Rivvy - the big mast- is a better option for off road IMHO.

There's a loop from Chipping that takes the bridleways over to Dunsop Bridge which is good, the way back is a bit roadie though. Some good riding on it, about 22km with 400m vertical I think.

A lot of the riding around here gets very boggy but that route should be ok at the moment. There more riding at Dunsop on the fells to the north but not sure if they're a bog at the moment!

If you want can send a link to the Chipping ride.

There's a good one from Dunsop Bridge taking in Whin Fell and Dunsop Fell. Do it when it's been dry for a few days if your scared of mud though. It includes a scary drop off to one side on a big descent to keep you focused.
