I'm looking at the Transition Scout (Carbon) as a potential new bike. Does anyone know of any dealers that might have a demo bike somewhere in the South East? I'm in Surrey but anywhere within an hour or so drive would be ok, especially if there were some trails nearby to test it out.
Thanks.
My understanding is that Transition dealers buy their test bikes rather than having a roaming test fleet like some brands. This seems to be making test rides difficult. Given how many bikes are out there, Transition might soon drop off the short list.
I can see this place near the Forest of Dean does them - I may have to take a trip over there :

Nowhere near you OP, but if you fancy a trip to mid-Wales we have a large Scout carbon and a medium alloy Scout set up as demo bikes which you'd be welcome to try here, or at one of the south/mid-Wales trail centres: FOD, Afan, Cwmcarn, BPW, Nant-yr-Arian...
Thanks drovercycles. A trip to Wales might be in order then. A large sized carbon would be perfect.
Dan and Dave down at D&D Cycles in Barnham nr Chichester, should be able to help you out. Very friendly and helpful guys.
The only Transition dealer in surrey closed a few weeks back (Tamed Earth in Haselmere) Rumour has it that cycleworks are considering becoming a dealer, but that's just talk at this stage. +1 for Drovercycles!
Funny there are no local dealers yet they're the main sponsor of the Southern Enduro Series!?
that red carbon scout is a friggin beauty tho!! but too pricey for me.
The Bicycle Service in Kingston have a full range of demo bikes. Good guys too:

Thanks everyone, some good options there. Will make some phone calls later today to the various options.
The carbon in the reddish-orange does indeed look lovely. The playfulness of it from the various reviews is what I'm interested in finding out.
Probably worth demoing the ally version too unless you're desperate to spend an extra grand or whatever.
I've always stayed clear of Carbon in the past ehrob, but I could be tempted this time around. Nearly 1 1/2 pounds lighter and it just looks so damned nice. Agreed, I could save some money, lighten it up in other ways (wheels?) but ultimately have the same ride anyway, albeit heavier on the climbs.
