not the race. just for fun.

have formulated a very loose plan to do it this summer. starting somewhere south of munich and making our way to gardasee(lake garda) to meet up with the girlfriends (and one baby).

anyone done this before?

sleeping and eating arangements? thinking of taking a hammock and lightweight sleeping bag. eating at huts as we go.

I did a few years ago. Fantastic trip - probably more fun than doing the race. If you haven't already got it, Uli Stanciu's Transalp book will give you all the information you need. It's in German, but you can work it all out.

Have done a couple (Transalps, not the race). It is a fantastic trip. Drop me a line (see www.highbark.co.uk) and I'll see if I can get the maps etc to you. We did Oberstdorf to Garda (then rode on to Venice).

This year we're lookin at Garmisch to Venice via Cortina, Bassano and the Dolomites
