[Closed] Trainning tips in order to finish a race.

I have a race end of may to which I have been stupid enough to sign for. Now the aim is just to be able to finish the race, without being stooped at time barriers. How would you train. So far I did a ride about half the race yesterday. 37km, 1500 altitude gain in 6 hours and 3h45" on the bike/carrying. Once you reduce the coffee break, the long luinch in the sun and some of the faffing I would say it's about 4 hours long. Aim to the race is about 11 hours so I am sure I won't get stopped. What should I do.
Just keep on riding? Or should I aim to increase my speed, do more interval training?

what is the part of the race you are worst at (do you know?) climbing, the technical side, or getting round in the time?

that is what would be worth training for. imo.

Agreed.

Sure your tech skills are up to it - so I'd look at where else you're lacking, is it the endurance? Or the climbing fitness? If a lot is 'hike-a-bike' stuff there's probably not a lot to be gained.

Assume 1500 is metres, so that's a hell of a lot of climbing, I'd just ride up lots of hills.

I'd just be concentrating on upping your ride times and hitting those climbs, forget fancy interval training etc. Unless you're world cup racing climbing strength will trump pretty much anything, if you're strong on climbs you can draw on that for the endurance.

It doesn't says the distance and climb yet. But it's usually 80kms, and 2500-300+/3500/4000- in terms of climbing.
Obviously lots of it is bike carriage, so I have start running and sprinting up stairs. As for the riding aims are to ride to work on the fixie once a week until the end of the middle of February, twive from the second half of February to end of march, and 3 times for the month of April. I will add some long day rides every (or almost) every week end and I'll try to get some evening session once a week as well. Testing wise I plan some enduro (at least 3) before the race, and maybe a XMB as well.

I don't want to win it, just finish it. But seeing as Absalon gave up the first time because it was to hard for him... Better be on the safe side.

I'm doing a race in May, 165km and 4000m+ of climbing... Perfectly doable (this year is my 3rd go at it), assuming it's not too technical. Make sure you've got a decent saddle and bib shorts, though ๐Ÿ™‚

Given the figures I'm guessing you'll be doing hour+ climbs up real mountains, and the best preparation for that (IMO) is doing the same - there's no real substitute for climbing.

here is where the problem lies ;-). Singletrack only, most of them aren't doable up on a bike, and plenty not doable going down either.

You might want to start doing some running then as well ๐Ÿ™‚
